Why Past Papers Actually Work
Here’s something most students don’t realize until it’s too late – not all chapters are equally important. Some topics come up in exams every single year. Others hardly ever appear. When you go through five or six past papers, patterns start emerging.
Time management is another huge problem during exams. Three hours seems like a long time until you’re sitting there in an examination room trying to finish your paper. When you have been practicing at home with past examination papers and have used a timer, you learn how to pace yourself. You work out how much time to spend on each of your papers. By the time you reach examination day, the management of time is second nature.

How to Actually Use These 1st-year past papers
Start early. That’s the biggest tip we can give you. Try the 1st year past papers. Two months before exams is perfect. Do it two months in advance. That’s panic time, not learning time! You need time after learning to ask questions, too.
Here is a simple timetable you can use. First, study a chapter of your books. Make sure you know it perfectly, then take past papers and find questions from that chapter. After you have finished, look through our solved papers and see how you have done. Don’t only look at the right or the wrong. Also, read the full solutions carefully. Do this at least five times for every subject, but it will be time well wasted.
